100% Electric POWER, driving the future

Imagine a vehicle that’s cheap to run, environmentally friendly and instantly responsive. At Nissan, we have long understood the advantages of a battery pack powering a silent electric motor. Nissan electric vehicles offer improved range and performance to make your drive as thrilling as possible. The advantages of driving an electric vehicle are numerous, but to make the most of them, there are some things to consider.

How does it all work?
Nissan
Electricity creates motion (and vice versa)

Electric vehicles use electricity stored in rechargeable high-voltage batteries to power an electric motor. The motor then converts the electric energy into mechanical power to drive the vehicle.

Nissan
Plugs-in like any other device

Electric-vehicle batteries need to be charged with electricity supplied from a power outlet, such as a plug socket at home or a public charging station. All electric vehicles are delivered with a cable to charge with.

Nissan
Wastes no energy

With regenerative braking, energy produced while the vehicle decelerates is converted and stored in the battery. The energy is produced when the accelerator pedal is released by the driver and the momentum of the wheels turns the electric motor. With less need to use the brakes and other mechanical parts, vehicle parts last longer.

How do I charge my electric car?
Nissan
Home plug

Plug your car into the wall from your domestic socket with your EVSE cable just like a laptop or any other device, and the battery will top-up overnight. That’s probably all you will need if you just have a short commute or you don’t use your car every day. Green technology does make your life easier.

Nissan
Home AC charger

The best place to charge your vehicle is at your home, during the night. So you can turn your garage or driveway into a dedicated charging station with an home charger also called AC charger. Thanks to these AC chargers the time to charge your electric car is much faster (*). Using an AC charger at home is much more convenient and makes driving electric easier than ever.

Nissan
Public charge points

There are more than 200,000 public charging stations in Europe, including over 6,600 that offer Quick Charging services—and those numbers grow every day. You can download an app to help you find and plan your next charge, and benefit from the many authorities and workplaces that offer free parking while you charge.

How can I make the most of my range?
Nissan
Take care of your battery

Most electric vehicles won’t experience significant battery decline under normal everyday use. A simple tip to keep your battery in shape is to avoid letting the charge drop below 5%.

Nissan
Plan your trips

Your electric vehicle’s battery is fully sufficient for your day-to-day journeys. When going on long trips, just make sure to let it take a break and charge while you stretch your legs and why not grab a bite.

Nissan
Optimise your driving

Just like with a petrol car, small details can make a big difference to how far you can get on a single charge. Speed, accelerating and braking behaviour, road conditions, the number of passengers and amount of luggage, tyre pressure and even the air temperature all play a role in the car’s range.

Switching to electric, made easy with Nissan
Nissan
Remote monitoring

With the Nissan Connected Services app, you can use your phone like a remote control for your car. That means you can lock or unlock the car from anywhere, know where your car is at all times, heat it up or cool it down in advance, and even set your car to recharge when off-peak electricity is available.

Nissan
Charging points at your fingertips

If you have a high-tech car, you can expect it to come with a high tech app. The Nissan Charge app offers all the information you need at your fingertips. Find your nearest charging point on the go and feel confident all the way to your destination.

Nissan
Extended battery warranties

The lithium-ion batteries currently used in Nissan’s electric vehicles are highly reliable. On top of after-sales services, we provide extensive 8-year or 160,000km warranties on our batteries.

Nissan
Smooth and responsive drive

Electric motors provide 100% torque, which means smooth, powerful acceleration every time, with no engine vibration and near complete silence. Just push for instant power and ease off to slow down. One pedal gives you complete control, with the brake pedal reserved for responsive braking.

Nissan
Low maintenance, low running costs

The first saving you’ll notice is never having to buy petrol again. Electric vehicles also have far fewer moving parts, which reduces maintenance costs. Even wear on brake pads is reduced because electric cars use the motor to slow down, which also feeds power back to the battery.

Nissan
Zero emissions

Numerous government incentives make zero-emission cars more financially appealing. You can say goodbye to emissions and enjoy guilt free driving, knowing you’ve joined the electric revolution.

Benefit from grants and incentives

Value of electric vehicle grants

Privately bought EVs

A maximum grant of €3,500* is available for qualifying new M1 (passenger car) battery electric vehicles (BEVs) when purchased privately. Approved EVs with a full price of more than €60,000 and less than €14,000 will not receive a grant

Commercially bought EVs

SEAI provides grant supports towards the purchase of new N1 (light commercial vehicle) category electric vehicles for business and public entities. N1 category vehicles are typically small goods carrying vans with a technically permissible maximum mass not exceeding 3500kg. For the purpose of the grant SEAI will classify these as N1S vehicles.

A maximum grant of €3,800 is available for qualifying N1S category BEVs when purchased commercially. Approved BEVs with a list price of over €60,000 or less than €14,000 will not receive a grant. It should be noted that these grants apply to new vehicles only and cannot be claimed on second hand vehicles.

About the scheme

The Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant is a government funded support scheme assisting residents and homeowners to install an electric vehicle charge point on their property. The scheme provides a grant up to the value of €600 towards the purchase and installation of a home charger unit. To receive payment, you must ensure that you use a Safe Electric Registered Electrical Contractor.

The grant is now open to homeowners to apply for a grant, whether they own an electric vehicle or not. This charge point can also be used for visitor use or at rented accommodation.

The EV Home Charger Grant Scheme will only support smart chargers which are registered on SEAI’s Smart Charger Register.
